GVCM is dedicated to supporting children in rural Haiti and thanks to you we have impacted thousands of children with the hope and light of Christ! By investing in the next generation of Haitians, we can bring incremental improvement to everyone. As we invest in the lives of the children through educational, relational, and spiritual ways, we are raising a generation that will impact their communities for Christ. We have many programs which have children as their focus.
We have partnered with Awana Haiti to develop child discipleship programming through our rural church and school network. The strategy is based on the model to develop the local leadership within GVCM to understand and embrace the focus of long-term discipleship and commit to the spiritual formation of the next generation within their ministry.
The Awana Haiti Director launched the “Train the Trainer Conference” in January of 2021. 24 leaders from 12 of GVCM’s churches attended the training held at our Mirebalais campus. These specific churches and key leaders were selected to pilot Awana Kids ministry, as well as be the future coaches and trainers to serve and equip the additional 58 churches in the next Awana Seed Planters Conference. The goal is to equip leaders of GVCM to effectively implement and execute Awana discipleship programming and resources. Already, hundreds of children in rural Haiti have participated in the program.
The 4-year international curriculum walks the leader and the child chronologically and systematically through the Bible from Creation to the life of Christ and the New Testament on a child applicable level of development and understanding. This process of development of child discipleship and spiritual formation cannot happen over a week long VBS. It is a process. This is the passion and mission of Awana and GVCM. Child discipleship is a journey – not an event. When we are intentional to disciple children during these most formative years, the potential impact is remarkable. Therefore, equipping and developing leaders is imperative to the mission of long-term discipleship of the next generation.
“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6
